Jeff Abel

Co-Founder 

@JeffAbel is a disciple, husband and dad. He is a learner, a teacher and a wannabe photographer.  He is a coffee and Jeep enthusiast, and Mac and social media evangelist. If he isn’t on a trail or taking pictures, he’s probably at a Starbucks with his laptop open and Hootsuite running.

Jeff’s background is in education, having spent 16 years working in student affairs and developing community IRL with small groups of college students.  He is passionate about seeing people connected, helping others achieve their goals, and using social media as a tool to do both.  As an early adopter and semi-tech geek, Jeff was instrumental in developing a social media presence, as well as a social media internship, for the Focus Leadership Institute.

In 2010 Jeff served as a branding and social media consultant for an amazing non-profit that is changing their corner of the world in Nebraska.  Through this experience, Jeff discovered his passion for helping local businesses effectively communicate their brand message. He caught the bug, and once that project was finished he began looking for opportunities to train other organizations on how to use social media.

Looking back, it was through these trainings that Rocky Mountain Media Group began to take shape.  What started out as only an interest had become a passion, one that called for more time and attention.  So, in August, 2011 Jeff left his position as Director of Student Development in order to make Rocky Mountain Media Group a reality.

Rocky Mountain Media Group is the result of Jeff’s passion for social media, his experience in developing community, his years working in education, and his desire to help organizations like yours.
